Rear end oooer!!

Finally got cracking on the rear end of the car and took the rear beam off the car.

I've replaced the beam bushes, swapped the rear drums for Polo disc brakes and added the rear anti-roll bar.

It didn't go to plan! I first put the bushes in the wrong way and then spent a day looking for a press and then when I came to fit the rear brake lines and cables found that they were the wrong ones and weren't for a "Lupo conversion kit".

Any way its off the axle stands and I'm just waiting for the hoses and cables to drive her.

Heres some pictures from the rebuild.

The bush going in the wrong way, doh!!

Built up rear beam with bushes installed wrong, doh!!! Had to press them out and in again.

Not fitted the front bushes yet, going to wait for either the front brakes or suspension, whichever comes first.

New bits arrive

I've been busy over the past two weeks buying bits for the suspension. I'm not taking the plunge with the bodywork yet as I need to drive the car for the next few months so I cant take it off the road.

I've received my rear brakes which I got for a bargain off ebay. I've gone for a rear brake setup off a Polo 6n2 with standard calipers but drilled and grooved discs.

Aswell as the rear brakes I also picked up from Awesome GTI in Manchester a rear sway bar to reduce the understeer and hopefully make the rear more responsive.

I brought back some GTI hubs from Germany. These travelled the 750 miles comfortably in my suitcase. Thank god I wasn't stopped at customs

I've had a go at making a cold air filter aswell for the standard engine it should give be about an extra 0.3bhp ha ha

The beginning

So I've started on the car. My car is a 2002 Lupo with a 1.4 75bhp engine (soon to be changed). I've had the car for over 7 years now and I've been itching to do something to it. Last year I got the rally bug while helping out on a rally team as a mechanic and asked myself how hard it could be? We shall see.

First blog

So I'm new to this scene but the internet got the better of me. I will use this to blog about my rally car build (pictures to be added soon) and also maybe increase my internet status.

You can also follow the build on ClubLupo at
